"Met fire island Thomas when he was on tour a few years back, after which we kinda lost touch for awhile. You know how it goes: lots of jammers, lots of records, lots of facebook friends... who can keep up? Shit. Anyway, when I was out west in December, fire island AK came up in a conversation with my man Jon M. from Lost Sound Tapes, and he tells me that Thomas had started traversing this really dark road, kinda like Prurient or Non or something. That ain't what he sounded like when I met him, but also, I feel it would be reductive to say that he sounds like that now. This tape is heavy like that, sure, but its specific brand of doom and claustrophobia genuinely creeps me the fuck out in a way that a lotta that other stuff doesn't.
