Recorded in one mighty take after meticulous rehearsing and demoing, 'O' is a strikingly beautiful 45 minute work of orchestral ambiance. Flowers Of Hell leader Greg Jarvis used his synaesthesia to sculpt the piece, aiming for a modern work of what the 18th C German music press would have called 'absolute music' - music which makes no reference to anything, music which simply is.
The Flowers Of Hell are a trans-Atlantic space rock orchestra made up of 16 or so independent musicians based in Toronto and London. Led by synaethsette composer Greg Jarvis, the group are noted for building classical tangents from the work of The Velvet Underground and Spacemen 3. Their fourth album 'Odes' will be released in mid 2012 on Optical Sounds.
