Tread softly down the stairs as I
Try not to wake the babes
Deep breath in the silence but I’m
Still worried about the day

The tree and all of its baubles
Soft glow pushing back the dark
I settle myself in the shadows
They’re also in my heart

Treats to bake and the wreaths, they can wait
Treasures to buy, cards to write
For neighbours and friends, I should really get ahead
