Retro from Back by FS

This song talks about - in the first verse, at least - the utopian bend that science-fiction had during the 1980s and 1990s and how people were actually excited for the future, whereas now - and this comes up in the second verse - not only is almost all sci-fi dystopian, dark, grim, cynical, pessimistic, all the characters are assholes, our world itself has become dystopian: slave labour, poverty, late stage capitalism, exploitation, workers who can barely afford to eat, essentially give their physical energy to make mega-rich corporations even richer - and get nothing back for that - , lack of healthcare, depression and anxiety at an all-time high, no solidarity, everyone just thinks about themselves, but also dirt, polluted cities, grey skies, skyscrapers everywhere, crowded streets with mostly gas-engine cars, huge forest fires, melting snowcaps etc..
Musically, this is THE cliché retro-80s-synthwave song, though it has some elements that are not typical for the genre, such as the more atmospheric first verse, where even an acoustic guitar appears and the Kraftwerk-esque drum sounds before the outro.

the occasional metalcore-, rap-, atmospheric electronica-, orchestral-, synth pop- or dubstep-song may pop up now and then, though.

FS is an amalgamation of many musical influences, since its creator is generally a huge fan of any type of music himself and can enjoy anything as long as it is melodic and harmonic and has at least some complexity to it.
