Heirloom was commissioned by the Kansas City Symphony, Oregon Symphony, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, and the Knights, with additional extraordinary support from Linda and Stuart Nelson. It received its world premiere on September 24th, 2021, in a performance by the Kansas City Symphony under the baton of Michael Stern. The third revised version, heard on this recording, received its premiere on November 24th, 2023, in a performance by the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, conducted by the composer.
