Ideruni (Help) from Aban by The Garifuna Collective
An intensely personal song, Ideruni is an appeal for help and understanding. Returning to his home in Honduras after a long tour, exhausted after months of travel, the composer finds his neighbors, those closest to him jealous of his adventures and success, hurling abuse at him in the street. Asking, “what happened to this place, talk to me!” and getting to no reply, only feeling the anger and disrespect, and feeling left out of his community.
