Advertising Films by Generation Lossless
Advertising Films is a ballet that expresses and interprets my introspection on my depression and the COVID-19 pandemic that erased 2+ years from our lives.
It achieves this through creating dream-like soundscapes that the listener passes through like the space between home and work.
Seven short stories titled 'CM' (Japanese acronym for commercial) have been translated to Japanese and voice acted to help communicate my many emotions. Having these stories told in a language most listeners will not understand helps further communicate my feelings of being an 'imposter'.
The album is inspired by the 1985 Ryuichi Sakamoto documentary titled "Tokyo Melody", and home VHS recordings of Japanese commercials made from the late 1970s through the 1990s.
