2008년 부산에서 만들어진 밴드 지니어스(GENIUS)는
'난봉꾼들'에서 시작해 '엄마아들(Mamason)'로 이름을 바꾼다.
첫 베이스 연주자 '앤디 구띠에레즈'의 고향 복귀와 함께
'엄마아들-Mamason'의 이름으로 앨범을 만든다.
떠나는 친구를 위한 기록물이다.

이 후 새로운 베이스 연주자 서창완이 함께 하면서
이름을 지니어스(GENIUS)'로 바꾼다.
2010년 6월, 1년을 함께한 서창완의 군입대와 함께
두 번 째 기록물을 만든다.

이 후, 새로운 베이스 연주자 스티브와 함께 현재까지 활동 중이다.
단순하고 빠른 Rock n Roll 을 원하는 이들은
2년 동안의 '취권'들을 모아 올해 새로운 앨범을 만들 계획이다.

GENIUS was created in 2008 in Busan from the remnants of garage band ‘Nanbongkundle’. Known then as Mamason, they recorded their debut album to commemorate bassist Andy Gutierrez's departure to the U.S.

Mamason became GENIUS with a new bassist, 서창완 Seo Changwan. In June 2010, he entered military service and they recorded their second album to remember his time with the band.

GENIUS is now active with new bassist, Steve C.

The music is simple, blistering rock. It combines outrage and deadpan humor in oddly tragic songs about a man noting the onset of his period (“Period”) and a premature ejaculator recounting a night with an ex’s angry mother (“Yellow Rabbit”). This is for those who love the catharsis of ‘77, who can spend all day with a stack of pulp comics, who want more poetry out of their knuckleheaded rock. This is drinking music for the thinking man. Sometimes it's thinking music for the drinking man ("About Loving Someone").
