Taking the principle melody of another piece on this album as a startingpoint, composer Renadi Santoso was looking for new ways for gamelan to engage with international musics, letting himself be inspired by the influx of the other musicians.
In this case prog rock was the main inspiration. After the joyous, uplifting opening, the music speaks of hidden meaning, a film-like dark-alley chase, leading into a cathartic closing or whatever your own imagination may bring you (in)to.

We are an Amsterdam-based music ensemble playing Balinese ànd original compositions on our combination of Balinese gamelan kebyar style instruments with synthesizer, drums, guitar, violin and bass. We use musical style techniques from Java (Central/Sunda), contemporary western composition- and improvisation, jazzpop, progrock, mediaeval, folk etc.
