SteamTrain Desire from CrossWorX by Gong Tirta

An adaptation of the original piece 'Tramlijn Begeerte' (1999) by Renadi Santoso which featured poetry by Jos Versteegen, in which the protagonist repeatedly views a skater who skates along the streetcar he's travelling in. Ever meeting, ever not-meeting.

By ommitting the poem, 'Streetcar' (tram) became 'Steamtrain'. Still the wild driver makes you occassionally loose your balance, but well, just enjoy the everchanging vistas!

Recorded throughout 2012-2016 at the Gamelanhuis and at Bangkirai Studios Amsterdam The Netherlands.

We are an Amsterdam-based music ensemble playing Balinese ànd original compositions on our combination of Balinese gamelan kebyar style instruments with synthesizer, drums, guitar, violin and bass. We use musical style techniques from Java (Central/Sunda), contemporary western composition- and improvisation, jazzpop, progrock, mediaeval, folk etc.
