"The Zelator" is a very odd book about magical tradition that was published in 1998 by Random House. It was written for the most part by Mark Hedsel and completed after his death by his friend, David Ovason.
Or at least that's what the fly-leaf of the book and its introduction would have you believe. But in reality, neither Hedsel nor Ovason ever existed. They were the creations of Fred Gettings (1937-2013), who wrote extensively on magic, astrology, and the occult. Whether the contents of the book are as much a work of fiction as its authors is unclear, but it's an interesting read all the same.
I'm still trying to get the music I record to sound like the version I can hear in my head. To do this I've ended up playing every instrument I can get my hands on. These days, I'm closer to "That Sound" than I used to be, but the journey continues.
