Nervous Retouch by Ryan Kayhart

"As with each of his previous albums, Ryan Kayhart takes you on a journey through one of the most restlessly creative minds of his generation. This is the real deal folks. Those other "weirdos" are just pretend. Ryan is one of the best songwriters doing this "outside avant pop" thing period. His stuff gets seemingly better and better and this is truly a high (bong)watermark.

Damn, what's in the water in Worcester? Along with the unclassifiable Ayurvedic Tapes and Moss Archive, Firehouse, GoGo, and Distant Castle collectives, add HEC tapes to the map, its surely going to rise to cream level tape status with a whole slew of gems on the horizon.

The tape begins with the line, "this is the end". Perhaps the end is really the beginning. I feel like I've heard these songs in the dreams of past lives, perhaps I have. Every last one, a hit from an alternate warped dimension. Many tunes demand instantaneous repeat and deliver immediate dopamine release.

Thank Matt Pike and HEC for putting this out into the world amid a wealth of glut. This one is well worth hearing and hearing a lot. Serious ripper. Let Ryan Kayhart be your trip guide."
