I wanted to explore the raags of Indian classical music, without making Indian classical music. This one is Malkauns, the drone notes are D and G, which seems to pull it toward G, but in fact the root note is D. This gives it the feeling of mystery and unresolvedness.
The organ is running through a 5 second delay with a long decay time. This is what Terry Riley called the "time lag accumulator" when he did it with two reel-to-reels back in the day. There's an electronic tanpura providing the drone in the background.
