Animal Husbandress is Housewitches' response to topics ranging from the very global – gender issues, colonisation and the perils of nostalgia – to the hyper-local: opposition from car owners to a well-implemented cycle path in Kilbirnie.

Animal Husbandress is a lyric from “Man the Station,” which explores how much of the English language is rooted in the idea that masculinity is the default. In 2021 our language can feel at best, clumsy and inadequate, and at worst, exclusive and oppressive.
