Receive from Receive by I Am An Instrument

Receive is the first single and title track from the new album by IAAI. It begins it’s completely improvised journey with an elegant, rhythmic and lyrically precise pluck on the guitar, setting the tempo, rhythm and melody up to be joined first by bass and drums, sitting like gravity under the melody line.
As the deep organic groove is established gentle cascades of keyboard embrace the melody, extending it playfully and opening up for the saxophone to join. With the band fully up and running percussion accents move around the beat and the song gains weight, depth, and momentum, establishing a warm powerful groove that remains distinctly it’s own but with elements that suggest dub, African and a very distinctive soul jazz quality.
‘Receive’ is a long hypnotic reverie of a track, establishing its own unique world, conjuring the peace of trouble free Sunday mornings with a peaceful, unhurried and elegant real-time mediation upon melody and riddim by an accomplished and talented group of musicians at the height of their powers.

I Am An Instruments plays 100% improvised music. No planning or agreements are made before the concert except for who starts the song. Capturing the moment into visual and and auditory waveforms and sharing them with you is the goal.
