These audio-collages were made during a period when Imani_Atlantic (she/they) refused to engage in monogamous, heteronormative romantic relationships. The songs were produced as Imani interrogated: 

--What does it mean to be intimate without being possessed by a partner?
--Can we simultaneously harbor deep feelings of connection and still clearly communicate our physical, psychological, social, and emotional boundaries?
--Why does being someone's girlfriend feel like a reward for 'good behavior' rather than an opportunity to share space, nurturing, and developmental experiences? 
--How can we unlearn the harmful socialization of womyn and girls, that dictates we are not entitled to make autonomous decisions about our own bodies, our time, our energy, our love, and our care? 
--How can we demonstrate true and long-lasting love for one another without involving the Church, the State, and/or any other capitalist framework of property and ownership? 
--How critical is the erotic in queer Black feminist liberation? 

This album is an exploration into the shape of my desire, resistance, resilience, community-care and self-defense in an era of rising fascism and white nationalism in Amerikkka. This album is about having my fists up, heart out, queer love and magic overflowing.

Imani_Atlantic is an ecologist, artist, activist, and scientist living in the BaeArea. She is trying to bridge her passions for experimentation and social justice. Imani_Atlantic is a cohost on Las Brujas Radio and 1/3 of the band Earth Rituals.
