The Jazz Wolf was a ghost, a myth whispered about in the dimly lit clubs at the city’s edge. Some said he was a man; others said he was something else. The music he played was wild, feral, like it was tearing itself out of him in a frenzy of sound. Those who heard him said they could never forget it. But there was a price. Every time the Jazz Wolf played, something was taken from the audience—something invisible but vital. Their energy, their hope, their very souls seemed to drain into the music, feeding the Wolf, keeping him alive. And the more he played, the hungrier he became.
