Tread Softly by Isabel Rumble
I wrote this song for the forests, for the rivers, for the feeling of being held by nature in an uncertain world.
As a species we have been treating her terribly, but earth still offers places of incredible beauty and peace when we seek it. One of these places is takayna (Tarkine) in lutruwita (Tasmania), where I and many others have found a sense of connection and insight into the intricate forest ecosystem.
Sadly, the takayna rainforest is under threat.
This year I took part in Art for takayna, organised by the Bob Brown Foundation, which brought together artists from all over Australia to create works of visual art, music, poetry, photography, film, theatre, and more for the campaign to save takayna. This song is my own small way of giving back. All the proceeds from Bandcamp in July/August will go towards the Bob Brown Foundation and their efforts to save the ancient forests, and the countless animals and unique flora that live within.
