There's a blank faced doll on the shelf
Who decides to come to life
She says look at my eyes they can see
She says she can see everything
Her button eyes never change
But in her heart she is changed

The Doll with the blank stare
Who decided to be there
The Doll with the empty head
Better alive then dead she said

And then The Doll sitting there
With its alive blank stare
Begs the people watch me breathe
There is nobody to see
Her doll chest fills with nothing
The Doll says now I am breathing

The Doll with the cloth lungs
Says I'm at least someone
The Doll with the empty head
I wanna be you instead

Then The Doll looks at her hand
Laying on the shelf, she understands
She cries out I can feel the shelf
Its easy cause she's all by herself
Her doll hand doesn't feel the shelf
But she doesn't yet cry, not to herself

The Doll with the stuffed hands
Who believes she understands
The Doll with the empty head
Cant we let her feel instead

Then the Doll takes toy food to eat
Never knowing the difference between plastic and meat
She believes it to be amazing
This next requires indelicate phrasing

The little girl who owns the doll enters
And the doll says her name
Then the doll screams her name

Then the doll can't scream anymore
The doll sees that its belief
Was a deceit she made on her own
And the world in which she has been sewn
Could not see the doll could come to life
Could not believe a doll came alive

The doll with the soft heart
Sits heart broken and torn apart
The doll with the empty head
Cant we let her live instead
