Rubeus by Jack DeSalvo

Besides both having very recent ancestors surnamed Russo, a name meaning, among other things, the color red, Tom Cabrera and Jack DeSalvo are in the fourth decade of their duo project that emphasizes stringed instruments and percussion from all over the planet. Perhaps the most important element on all their releases is improvisation in the service of music. On Rubeus, while every track is completely improvised, there is always a coherent structure evident. Crystalline compositions truly manifested in the moment. All this enhanced by deep communication and listening graced by the shared experience of countless performances and recordings. The third factor in this duo is the listener, with whom this effort is ultimately and intimately shared.

JACK DeSALVO developed his extraordinary guitar style from a deep immersion into jazz, classical guitar and his own prolific compositional output. He has studied with Bill Connors, Leonid Bolotine, Ariada Mikéshina, George Russell and at Berklee. He is a professional musician, composer, recording artist and record producer for Unseen Rain Records. He has toured the world with many jazz greats.
