I would like to bear a fruit like the cucumber.
I would like to take root,
grow prodigiously from the garden
but never leave the ground,
tender tendrils, tough old vine.

If I have to die away in the Autumn,
let me be fertile in decay
but perennially live again
through the fruits that I had hidden
until they turned to gold in the sunshine.
