Dinna is a song for women. Dinna means 'give it to me'. Women are the backbone of the family and give so much, as the ones who bare the children and raise them as well as do all the farming in traditional Gambia. This song honours and acknowledges the essentiality of the women in these roles.

Translation from Mandinka: Thank you women for birthing and raising the children. The men folk are away. The rice is ripe. The maize is ripe. The millet is ripe in my mother’s farm. I want it so give it to me. Thank you for the crops. Thank you for our children.
