Lyrics

The flowers are beggin’ me to pick them.
They’re everywhere I Goldenrod and Black Eyed Susan
line the road, the ditches and the fields,
the meadows and the woods
Queen Anne’s Lace and Dandelions
they’re everywhere I look at the road, not at the flowers
Or you’ll get us killed

Bumbadabadabadaba etc

Well I had to stop to pick some some flowers
all the pretty yellow blue
I had nowhere to put them
So I stuck’ em in my boot
and, they sure do look pretty
Stickin’ from my boot

Bumbadabadabadaba etc

Chorus- The flowers are beggin’ me to pick them x 3
They’re everywhere I go, everywhere I go

The flowers are beggin’ me to pick them
Daisies and buttercups are dancing in the sun
I’m layin’ on the grass, with the flowers all around
I just want to share the flowers with everyone

Bumbadabadabadaba etc

Chorus

Origin Story
I am not too sure when I first started picking wildflowers. Probably in my last years in Vancouver. If I was going to a party I would often pick some to bring to the host as I usually didn’t have enough money to buy wine. When Barb and I moved home to Nova Scotia we drove around a lot, just exploring and getting lost. My eye would be drawn to all the flowers and I would constantly have to tell her to stop so I could pick some. I really did use my boot once to keep them upright. I still like picking flowers from our yard and neighbourhood and making bouquets for the house.
