Singer/songwriter/musician Maria Perdiki (aka Jammaroots) - from Athens, Greece - releases her own compositions backed by her band, in a reggae/dub style with soulful vocals and plenty of improvisation.

Years ago, you would meet her in rock/blues bands playing the drums or the bass. In 2005 she answered an ad for backing vocals in a Bob Marley tribute band (The Uprising). Since then, reggae won her over, onstage and in the studio. Her album is the result of many years of perseverance, hard work and overcoming obstacles, with the love of music finally winning over. In the winter of 2023, Jammaroots entered the studio with her musicians, a 'dream team' as she describes them, because "when you find the right players and the ideal chemistry, everything falls into place naturally."

Musicians in the band include her old friend Nikos Korkovilis on the drums, who has supported her and stood by her since her introduction to reggae. Another dear friend, Danae Kostakioti aka Danai Lama, can be found on the keyboards. Costas Dimou plays percussion & FX. Vangelis Emmanouil is on guitar, while Spiris provides the low frequencies on the bass. They were the last-minute additions to the band and within a very short time frame they all managed to become a creative team.

The recording captures the band playing live at Wannabizz Studios (in Piraeus, Gr) with Nikos Retsos as the sound engineer. It was then mixed and mastered by Ste at Studio 10 in Thessaloniki, Gr, with emphasis on the heavy bass and delay effects for that special dub atmosphere, while maintaining the feel of a band playing live.

As Jammaroots says: "I would describe the musical atmosphere of the record as reggae-soul, reggae-dub, occasionally as reggae-fusion, with spontaneous improvisational magic from the band."
