I drove up Kaitaia way
A long way from home
Caught ya sittin neath the shade
Of a bowed palm tree
Called ya name ya jumped straight in
Didn’t tell ya next of kin
We cruise
On the highway
That’s SH-1

Passed right on through Whangārei
We’re not stopping there
Made our way straight through the A
Down Taupo way
Got no time for Hawkes Bay
Headed for the Cook straight
So let’s move
On the highway
Before we're overrun

Homeward bound we made it down
And called in with a friend
Said he done shot Jack Brazil
I gotta say that’s a worthy kill
Before ya bound to the ball and chain
With a number in the place a name
Let’s hit the road
Get on the run
In South Pacific sun

Now I’m gone how I long
To roll upon that road
Ya say it’s just an another plane
But step into my frame
Got my kicks on 66
Autobahn’s got a trick
