When I was seventeen I got the call that my father had died
Then I went to my bedroom and cried on the floor beside the TV
And I thought and I thought about when I was a kid
Then I thought about what my father did and what he didn't do

As I sunk like a stone in that hum
I was raised by my grandma you know... It was weird sometimes
She had a hard life with my mom (she's a published writer you know...)
Had a book of poetry that she wrote
When I was young I heard about it

Now my sister she's sick with her pills and anxiety shit
My mom passed down to her kids
When I was young I laughed about it
Now I see through this curse placed upon my family
and the truth about a matter of time (We don't talk)
I'm thirty-three and lost
