Mass Kinetic by Jesus on the Moon
The Mass Kinetic EP is the result of a collaboration between Jake Frye and Robbie Sherman. While Jake grew up in Michigan and Robbie currently resides in Indiana, Jake now lives in the Pacific Northwest and the two have never actually met in person. Robbie had been a long-time fan of Jake’s Jesus on the Moon releases, which led to them talking about a possible collaboration. Robbie sent Jake a bunch of rough ideas and guitar parts, and over the course of three years, Jake added drums, bass, and vocals to the tracks, composing and arranging them, and they bounced them back and forth until they were satisfied. Needless to say, the end result, ranging from noisy lofi garage rock to ambient soundscapes, surprised them both. Neither could have predicted that those initial tracks could have led to these songs. Working in an unconventional way was an Oulipian challenge that caused them to approach songwriting in an entirely new way.

Jesus on the Moon is a collection of lo-fi songs I've been recording in basements, garages, and bedrooms since 2005. Recently, Derek Reed joined the ranks and, with the help of a drum machine, we've started to bring the songs to the stage.
