Doing Christmas by Jingle Ballers

"The" Jingle Ballers was a project started by twin brothers Eric and Brian Richardson. Their remote collaboration - which would become the blueprint for later albums - started on this 2016 debut Doing Christmas with Eric playing percussion, piano, synthesizers, and vocals in Minnesota; and Brian handling bass, guitar, and vocals in Washington.

Thinking it was a one-off collaboration, they decided to cover their absolute favorite Christmas songs of old like Bing Crosby and David Bowie's version of "Little Drummer Boy," Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas," and "Mele Kalikimaka" as popularized in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, plus a new favorite, Nick Lowe's "Christmas at the Airport."

Irreverent and goofy, Doing Christmas (2016) was a fun, light-hearted attempt to spread some joy to family and, little did they know at the time, was just the beginning of a now-annual holiday tradition.
