Empty nest, all alone,
Empty nest those babes have flown.
Away to seek pastures new
I wish them joy and problems few.

Empty house, What bliss! What now!
Crank the radio way up loud
No gleeful sighs of pure delight
No hungry baby’s cry at night

Oh! My girls, they grow so fast
I pray they do not forget the past
Happy times in company spent
I know those times, were but lent

No tiny hands to hold and guide
No big hugs freely given
No tears to wipe from those big brown eyes
No pictures shyly given

No tiny footsteps up the stairs
No noisy disputes to be shared
No handing out of treats this day
No time left to hug and play

The swings in mourning stand alone
The grass around them is overgrown
Still hear those voices in all their might
The tears, the laughter, delight
