Attention Span from Astroturfing by Jochem Klaus

This is one of the oldest tracks on Astrotrufing. Composed and recorded in 2001, it was a kind of blue print for a technical methodology I developed for myself, that led to the creation of all the pieces of music on Astroturfing.

I've since discovered that this technical methodology is an inevitable byproduct of working with certain types of music creation software whilst being simultaeneously inundated with cultural stimuli until the point of saturation.

The inspiration for this piece came from a visit to a graduate show at Sydney's College of Fine Arts (C.O.F.A.) where I was confronted with an artwork that contained a kind of warped funhouse type mirror mounted inside the body of an old fashioned television.

I remember the sight of myself inside the television mirror prompted an imaginary conversation with myself that went something like the lyrics of this track.

I was lost, in my own thoughts. Out of my depth and out of control.
