All things they start with a foundation
To only know where to begin
It’s harder than just building walls
It’s like they used to say, even Rome wasn’t built in a day

I’ve been sawing all the beams and pounding nails
I’ve had as much success as I have failed
I stand upon an open floor made from all my mistakes
Yeah Rome wasn’t built in a day

And the walls have holes, and the roof it leaks
It holds together cause I believe
The window’s cracked and the front door squeaks
It’s all the home I’ll ever need
Even if it take another coat of paint

Filled up the holes and stopped the rain
Covered all the walls in shades of grey
Even if it falls apart I will remember what they say

It’s holding all my hope and dreams
The window’s fixed and my door don’t squeak
Love will grow if you plant the seed
If it is worth the wait it’s worth the pain
