And so it hit me
Like a 12 gauge slug to the chest
It's so quiet in this city
and these engines are fueled with regret
It was never clear, I should've known
best guess was not enough
I shouldn't have expected any less
But the doors weren't laid out plain,
like one of light and one of flame
but I guess it's not over yet

So feign surprise through jaded eyes
and let the creature pass for now
or twist the steel that keeps us here
and let the demon out

I got turned around,
thought I swam for the surface but hit the floor
I was caught face down
laying in a bed I'd made before
So with painful steps and staggered pace I made a choice
now I'll sit in wait to face the chances I destroyed

Just give me one good reason
I'll lay down to make things even
I won't let it torture me
so we can let it out and see, oh
