Lyrics
THEY
How do hit a target that keeps moving,
When you reach a peak, then find another one?
How do you climb a mountain when the rocks keep on falling?
Do you leave it all behind or do you grit and carry on?
With the has-beens and halfwits outrageous claims
You could be forgiven for believing they could dry up the rain,
Or cool down the sun when its rays are overhead.
Yet they struggle to conceal their culture of pretence.
They will lead you to the canyon and they’ll try to make you jump
They’ll convince you that the only way is theirs.
They’ll take away your worth like you’re an accident of birth
And what you do from now, no one really cares.
You only tame a beast when you take away its food
And cut away the tubes for it to breed
Your day in the sun will come sooner
When their life forces begin to fade.
With the has-beens and halfwits outrageous claims
You could be forgiven for believing they could dry up the rain,
Or cool down the sun when its rays are overhead.
Yet they struggle to conceal their culture of pretence.
