The Frontier by In Space We Dance

2073: The end of Phase One of Humanity.

The Corona has erupted. The Ionosphere is penetrated by Solar radiation, the like of which has never been seen. Governments, Globally knew it was coming. Scientists were sworn to silence, preparations were made. The population was not told. A solar Tsunami. Only at the Frontier does mankind survive.

Diary excerpt from Oliver, Citizen C70458: 2.10.73.

I first met Sophie when I was in school. We were fifteen. I was first struck with her beautiful olive skin and flowing black hair, and I fell in love with her immediately. With my friend Isaac and his girlfriend Emma, we could not have been luckier than that week. Anyone who went outside was on a ticking timetable to death; agonising painful death as it turned out. We were in a studio the whole week, in a basement. We even turned down a chance to go out and meet friends mid session, which was unlike the four of us. We were never exposed. Not many people were that lucky. It only took an hour of exposure. No one really noticed the absence of the leading politicians that week. They knew of course. No one could feel it or taste it. They didn’t know what they were being poisoned by. What we know now is there is a sanctuary for those that survived. It is nine hundred miles away and we must walk, from Truro to the Cairngorns.
