We've been together for a while
times of tribulation and trial
if i would've practiced for the recital
I'm sure I would've walked a few more miles

but time has at last has escaped our grips
As I remember the softness of your lips
as the liquid way you'd move your hips
as we would swing around the room

but now i live in a dusty gloom
renting nothing but an old run down room
no air to brush my thoughts of you
so I drink alone without much to do

and try to give myself some time
I'm scared to even go outside
but we all must face our fears
or else live trapped amongst these years

a pound of flesh looking for more
but we're all living the American dream
and you've still got eyes that gleam serene

an adventurous spirit that tempered stride
with no marked price that I can tithe
what a price to pay to let you free
please release me from these memories

I'm twenty three and I was eighteen then
I feared inside wed both end up dead
and I crumpled into the hall
as the cops burst down your walls

You stabbed yourself as you cried and yelled
wore a plastic bag donned as a veil
as my eyes watered and I wanted to die
Only to see to it that you survived

The january made me old and withered
The feelings that 2013 delivered
a bottle of monarch like my cousin drank
my date awaits like a venomous snake

and to this day I'm living then
I never gew up I don't know who I've been
and how to do and how to love
I curse the idea of a one true love
