The story of my songs goes something like ‘losing my way, falling, finding comfort in emotions buried deep for years and dealing with them now resurfacing, reconsidering the relationship I have with myself and others’.
I worked to create rich textures of shadow and light with lyrics that excavate darker histories into something luminous; ribboning melodies that want you to fray, that people could listen to over and over until the pain subsides. I came to point in my life when I realised that I had been coasting through life and in these songs, rather than carrying on floating I chose to rip myself open and see what would come out the other side.
These songs form partial translations of the depths we may all struggle to express; the struggles and blisses that rub against language; trembling between reflective moments and bursts of intensity. I wanted the music to reflect a sense of finding my truth; the very painful process of immersing myself and questioning the certainties of life itself; finding that all is uncertain and that nothing and everything felt raw and real. Having fallen in love with electronic music, I wanted to create electronic music that wasn’t cold or dystopian so I consciously chose to express my feelings by creating a hybrid world of folk, electronica and emotion; of deep-rooted imaginaries, hypnotic beats with lyric integrity.
