This classical improvisation was actually improvised at the piano, with no preparation beforehand.
It was performed live in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, in November 2014. Due to technical difficulties during the performance, the recording came out as mono. It has been converted to stereo, but is not as high quality as my usual recordings.
Julius Schmidt is a pianist with a unique, emotional sound which encompasses the depth and expressive capabilities of the piano.
His classical piano improvisations are true improvisations. They are all played spontaneously at the piano.
He is also a classical composer, whose style, while tonal, is decidedly modern, yet very different from the style found in contemporary classical music.
