'...Stylistically, "Shoedazey" is at home in the borderlands between singer-songwriter folk, dream pop with a shoegazer aura, and a subtle psychedelia. Zanes works with acoustic and electric guitars, various tunings, loops, drones, synthesizers, airy percussion, and, of course, her unadorned yet expressive voice. The result is a dense atmosphere in which simple structures and subtle breaks can coexist, as can relaxation and an almost constant quiet melancholy. Lyrically, the tone is often poetically playful: memories, losses, and tender longings run through the lyrics, sometimes embedded in everyday observations, sometimes more associatively.'
