My Friend from UnderGROUND by Kensuke Sudo

前作のリリース以前から存在していた、ピアノの弾き語りによる特別なメロディ。その美しさをどう“楽曲”として結実させるか、試行錯誤の末に完成した一曲。転調によって現れる対旋律的なグッドメロディが印象的で、最終的にはピアノではなくガットギターで仕上げることで、どこか“Yesterday”を想起させる佇まいに。

メロディの純度は高く、恋人にはなれなかった相手に「友よ」と呼びかける男心の切なさと潔さが交錯する。あえて他の装飾は加えず、歌・ガットギター・ベースのみという最小限の編成でその世界観を描き切っている。
そして今作では、リスナーやクリエイターによる解釈や再構築を歓迎し、楽曲自体が一人歩きするような広がりも視野に入れている。

This song began with a special melody, originally written as a piano-and-voice piece even before the release of the previous album. After much trial and error on how best to shape it into a complete track, it finally took form. The key change introduces a contrasting yet equally beautiful melody, and by choosing a gut guitar instead of piano for the final arrangement, the song naturally evokes the spirit of Yesterday.

The purity of the melody, combined with the bittersweet yet graceful sentiment of a man addressing someone he loved as “my friend,” creates a deeply emotional core. Stripped down to just voice, gut guitar, and bass, the song embraces minimalism to let the feeling speak for itself.
With this track, Sudo welcomes reinterpretation and reconstruction by listeners and fellow creators—hoping the song will one day take on a life of its own.
