Seams by Kind of Shy

This album is the result of three strangers meeting in 2019. We got to know each other by telling stories and sharing song ideas we'd been sitting on for a while, but never could quite finish. Shauna had been tinkering with How to be Happy (formerly Lullaby) and Moonlight for some time and, during their first "real" practice, she and Cody knocked out a rough version each (though without making eye contact the entire time). Amanda joined shortly after, introduced to Shauna and Cody by an enthusiastic and irreplaceable art teacher, Christina Hung, and everything clicked... though we still couldn't make eye contact while we were playing. That wouldn't happen for another year or so.

This album helped us work through some of the more difficult and confusing points in our lives and it follows a young girl growing up through the combined stories we've shared over the years. From Amanda sheepishly passing along the lyrics to Puppy Mill Boys, to Cody sharing late-night voice memos with lyrics and awkwardly hummed melodies (e.g., Seams), to Shauna composing Lazarus from a melody that had been stuck in her head for years, this project is truly a collaborative effort. Now ride-or-die, we're still kind of shy.
