The Endurance from Still by Larry Mindel
Ernest Shackleton led an expedition to reach the South Pole in the early years of the 20th century. The Endurance became trapped in the Antarctic ice and after many months the party were forced to abandon ship - which eventually sank. The party itself - in a separate story of heroism and determination - made it away without a single loss of human life.
For over 100 years The Endurance lay at the bottom of the sea, undiscovered - until 2022.
My song reflects on the ship and its life alone for a century. But also maybe it's about something else.
