The ground I remember
With holes left in the field
The wounds from that September
Have finally healed

Slopes of broken boulders
Worn away from the climb
My world off my shoulders
No more wasting time

And no more pushing for answers
Now that I’m wide awake
I’m taking up my second chances
As old roots can decay

Vessels of you and me and water
Carve their way through the land
But while I’m still here I’m still othered
I won’t bite the feeding hand

So watch me sail on the river
Though I won’t be far away
