1516 from Beerserkers [2016] by Lèpoka
El 23 de abril de 1516, el duque Guillermo IV de Baviera (Alemania) promulgó un decreto por el cual la cerveza únicamente podía ser elaborada con agua, cebada y lúpulo: es la llamada Ley de Pureza o “Reinheitsgebot” (¿os atrevéis a leerlo en voz alta?). Y aunque se dice por ahí que el motivo principal de esta regulación era que el duque tenía el monopolio de la cebada en esa región, no podemos negar que no se entendería la cerveza tal y como es hoy en día sin esta famosa ley. Así que, ¡un brindis por ella!
April 23d 1516, duke William IV from Bavaria (Germany), decreed that beer should only be brewed with water, barley and hop: It is the so called: Purity law of the beer or “Reinheitsgebot” (Dare to say it out loud?). Even though some say that was only because of the duke’s absolute control over the barley market of the region , we won’t dare to deny his major role in making beer the precious beverage we treasure to this day in our fridges so… here goes a toast for the beer!
