a fallen angel spends eternity
alone, and thus the Lord’s design prevails
no one could ever truly understand
a train that took its pilgrims off the rails

no one would dare to look inside the wreck-
age and disturb the ghosts that haunt it still
consumèd by the rot it wastes away
secluded in the desert by God’s will

and every “keep out” sign is overgrown
with strange plants whose flowering has elsewhere ceased
the being that forsook its power to fall
has landed finally on its missing piece

the desert sun is looking down at you
dont let it burn, the night is coming soon

so tell me, do you feel at home inside
the bowels of the monster, here with me?
how beautiful you are covered in blood
whether yours or mine or anybody’s

ive spent so long alone, dont think that i
can separate you from me anymore
cause it would hurt too much, but if i must
ill wait like one of your dogs at your door

we gather to take part in the divine
the same way one would take part in a meal
do you think that was part of God’s design?
or one of our attempts to make Him real
