From Here by Linda Triplett

This EP narrates a musical journey of discovery and reflection through melodic lines and themes that are woven into the direction of moving forward to a brighter path.
The opening track “From Here’ with flowing melodies is inspired by new beginnings and perspectives, knowing you already have everything you need to make it happen. When life brings an unexpected turn, I have found that you can either re-act or choose to respond. It all starts from within, “From Here”.
The second piece “Where To” is inquisitive. The contour or shape of the opening phrase invites a time of enquiry and questioning. Where are you and where do you aspire to be. Where to is your energy or currency going.
“Walk with me” is a short interlude where I imagine a younger me dancing free in circles and taking in every delight. The piece starts with a simple dreamy melody. Then the music becomes more still with open spaced chords giving freedom to feel and hear the quiet inner voice. Finally, the rhymical pattern creates movement to embody emotion through dance.
“Uncover” is about remembrance and exploring the unknown. A time of letting layers go with curiosity and compassion, reframing thoughts and experiences as you rediscover.
“Way Forward” encourages and challenges the path ahead while navigating course corrections and new realities. This piece explores a mix of smaller and bolder musical ideas, reflecting the different steps and stages we experience when we realign and make our way forward.
Finally, the last track “Incandescence” illuminates the story of radiating and resonating to the new tone. This piece has three connecting life themes linked together by a recurring 2-bar motif on a Bb Maj7th chord, that almost resolves to an A Major (sus4) chord.
The first theme is intentional, arranged with a rising melodic sequence in unison. The second, gains forward momentum with a driving scale-like passage, rising anticipation over a slightly different chord progression. The final theme is like a deep exhale, allowing greater clarity and assurance as events unfold. The sustained open notes quietly sing over arpeggios using harmony from the first theme.
New awareness shines light on everything emitting remedy. Incandescence concludes with the familiar motif, then comes to an end with a descending outro in D minor.

After a dedicated career in high school music teaching, I am following my passion of music composition by releasing my debut piano EP. 'From Here', was produced in Darwin by Kuya James, featuring two former colleagues; James Mangohig and Evan Saunders, along with another accomplished Darwin musician Rowan Dally, who together form “ZaZa Zoo”.
