Lisa Wilhelm’s new album SO CLOSE (out May 9th, 2025) blends lyrical jazz with dreamy pop elements. Featuring a talented lineup including Lukas Wögler (sax), Moritz Langmaier (piano), Franz Blumenthal (bass), and Wilhelm herself (composer and drums), the album also includes vocals from Mareike Riegert, Nate Dailey, and Nico-Alexander Wilhelm, alongside a string quartet.
Inspired by Wilhelm’s personal experiences and literary influences, SO CLOSE explores themes of inner struggles, memories, and emotional connections. Tracks like “Change the Game” (written for her brother) and “Four Voices” highlight the album's emotional depth. With a mix of structured compositions and jazz improvisation, SO CLOSE showcases Wilhelm’s growth as both a composer and drummer, blending jazz, pop, and folk into a rich, creative sound.

Lisa Wilhelm is a young drummer from Stuttgart. From there, her musical path took her across Germany via Hamburg to Dinkelsbühl, where she primarily followed her roots in pop music. Her fondness for jazz brought her back to Stuttgart, where she began her jazz percussion studies at the HMDK in 2018 and founded the Lisa Wilhelm Quartet in 2020.
