Lúcia Carvalho est née en Angola mais grandit et mûrit en France. Son sens du rythme et sa langue maternelle, le portugais, ont vite fait de l’orienter vers le choix de sa base musicale : les rythmes brésiliens. Curieuse et touche à tout, elle métisse constamment la musique brésilienne, à toutes les sonorités qui la touchent, telles que le funk, la pop, le reggae, la musique africaine...
