Surface Scripts by john grzinich

'Surface Scripts' was composed from field recordings, site-specific actions, environmental interventions and wire instruments sounds recorded from 2008-2010. The title refers to the act of reading time-worn processes on various materials such as stone, wood or metal that result from 'natural' forces. One can view these 'scripts' as cues, gestures and patterns for scoring sound works. While the structure of the pieces do not directly reflect any visual 'scripts, the sonic elements we hear woven into the composition derive from residual geomorphological processes that continuously shape the materials used (see photo book).

The digital download comes with a PDF booklet of photographic 'Surface Scripts' from locations where many of the recordings were made.

This album was originally released on the Semper Florens label in 2010.
