Uncharted by Machado Mijiga

"Uncharted" represents the most direct stream of consciousness in any album I've put out before.

With the exception of one rebooted tune from my late teens, every composition on this album was conceived, refined, and produced by my laptop, a small MIDI keyboard, and my voice.

Every piece started as an improvisation, and has been tweaked and compressed into short "Jazztronica" etudes that were played by hand (key drums included), in real-time at a slower tempo, and then sped up for accuracy; some by miniscule margins, and others by larger degrees.

I transcribed all of my playing and made charts for some upcoming live performances.

I settled on "Uncharted," because this form of composition is fairly new to me, incredibly difficult to notate, but equally beneficial for me as an artist— I'm really exploring the depths of my own mind and trying to carve out a "sound"; a lifetime effort, really.

Everything related to this album was done in-house— parts, compositions, charts, mix, master, production, artwork, liner notes...all me.
