Virgo is the solo project of Japanese artist Yasutaka Sato. He released his first album, "Landform Code," in 1998 on the Japanese label FORM@ RECORDS. His second album, "Remnants," followed in 1999 on the same label. After releasing "Ooparts" on the American label Nophi Recordings in 2004, he went on hiatus, but 20 years later, in 2024, he suddenly resumed his musical activities, releasing albums on labels such as Móatún 7, Intellitronic Bubble, NeoOuija, SpaceTime Recordings and Mighty Force.
His music has its roots in early '90s IDM, such as Black Dog, B12, and As One. Sato himself has stated, "I aim to create music that evokes images in the listener's mind."
His debut album on Mahorka, "Novel", is also an IDM electronica album characterized by memorable melodies and retro-futuristic and organic feel.
